Introduction for newcomers .........

Welcome folks.

Most of you will know that I have spent most of my life totally inspired by an era of song, dance, instrument and personal style (even down to the facial hair!) that is perhaps best described as simply, old fashioned.

However, I've been dragged kicking and screaming into the new millennium with this, my first ever web site.

I asked myself, would Robert Johnson have gone down this road had it been available to him and the other guys, Muddy Waters, Lonnie Johnson, Willie McTell and Big Bill.

Yeah I think they would, so this is my way of taking my blues into this new era.

The site will be developed to help both the promoter and general audience.

At this site promoters can rest assured that they will make contact with me regarding concert performances and I can direct you from there on.

Whether you're one of the wonderful fans I've been blessed with or perhaps a general browser looking in our shop window for CD's then you can be sure that you are making a purchase from the official source.

My live performances will appear on this site and should be your first port of call to check for new dates or changes.

As a response to many requests I get whilst touring I have decided to feature a section called the Art Shop. This will give you information about my landscape paintings, from information about the gallery currently displaying them to the purchase of the slightly more affordable gift cards.

But onto the music and the top news is that the new album, SOLO is now available.

The album is just me and them darn old guitars weaving our way through country blues tunes that I've just been itching to get aired for years now.

This album features a 16 page booklet containing lyrics, the story behind the songs and a wealth of archive photographs.

Well, on that note I think I should sign out for now and let you continue to check out the rest of this site.

Regards,

Steve.

NATIONAL GUITARS

BLUES SLIDE GUITAR

BOTTLENECK BLUES GUITAR

Steve Phillips is one of the pioneering slide blues guitarists of the UK and one of the early UK white performers using exclusively National steel bodied guitars.

Steve Phillips has arguably been the main influence on the popularity of the National steel guitar since the early 1990's due to his works with Mark Knopfler in the Notting Hillbillies and of course Steve Phillips' own National guitar used for the front cover of Dire Straits' Brothers In Arms album cover in 1985.

Not only is Steve Phillips a phenomenal slide or bottleneck guitarist but his vocal talents are so reminiscent of the original blues masters that he simply leads the way in truly authentic acoustic country blues playing.

In my opinion Steve Phillips is The King of the National guitar - forget all other claims to that title!
